4. Machine Head’s Robb Flynn on Facebook

This wasn’t really something that many knew until earlier this year, but Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn is actually a really solid writer. His “The General Journals: Diary of a Frontman… and Other Ramblings” (often reposted on Facebook) that he began earlier this year are self-deprecating, emotional (some might even say emo), and confessional, all while seeming like the kind of guy you’d like to have a beer with. His “diary” began with an extremely random story about how he wound up onstage with former Oakland A’s manager Tony LaRussa and 70s singer Tony Orlando. Then bassist Adam Duce was dismissed from the band, and the way Flynn told his fans almost felt like we were in the room with him as he dealt with it.
