We’ve known it was happening for a while now, it was officially announced today that Down guitarist Pepper Keenan is returning to Corrosion of Conformity for a tour. Unfortunately for U.S. fans, the only dates are in the UK in March, but it’s suggested that there will be more. Joining C.O.C. in 1989, Keenan took over on vocals on the band’s 1994 album Deliverance, which found the band moving away from their earlier hardcore sound towards more of a southern rock/stoner hybrid that brought the band their most success. The good news is that he’ll remain in Down, who let the news out via their Facebook page:
It’s official. Down guitarist Pepper Keenan will be returning to Corrosion of Conformity for a tour of the UK and most likely more. Pepper has not left Down by any stretch. Don’t worry about that. Stay tuned to the Corrosion Of Conformity Facebook for updates!
When C.O.C. reunited back in 2010, they did so with the original Animosity-era lineup of Mike Dean, Woody Weatherman and Reed Mullin. And while Keenan didn’t participate in the band’s last two albums, he never officially left the band. The band suggested a new album is coming this year, and there’s already a song, “Tarquinius Superbus,” that the band wrote 26 years (!) ago.
