The Pretty Reckless, led by vocalist Taylor Momsen, made history with their second single, “Messed Up World.” The track hit #1 on the Mainstream Rock Song charts, along with their first single, “Heaven Knows,” released back in March.

That makes The Pretty Reckless the first band with a woman on vocals to have their first two singles hit number on the Mainstream Rock Song charts in the past 24 years. The Pretenders, fronted by Chrissie Hynde, did it back in the 80s with “Don’t Get Me Wrong” and “My Baby.”

The two Pretty Reckless tracks are from the bands latest album, Going To Hell, released on Razor & Tie back in March. Taylor Momsen appeared on the CW television show, Gossip Girl, but it seems this rock and roll thing might be working out for her.
