Metal Insider contributor Anthony Maisano is listening to a different metal album that was released on that day every day this year. Today, it’s Metal Church’s only album for Epic, The Human Factor, which was released on this day in 1991.

This album has some aggressive riffs, and serious energy to it. Instrumentally, it has a more traditional metal feel, but vocally, it’s very thrashy. However, it’s still not really a speed metal album. It’s a very interesting mix of those three subgenres, so it’s got a pretty unique style. Each song on the album has a few really impressive riffs, and it never wanes in the energy department.

Unfortunately, there just wasn’t anything too memorable about this album. It does what it does well, without a doubt, but it had no lasting power in my mind. Every track was decent, but not a single one was so good that I felt like hearing it again.

Favorite Tracks: “In Mourning,” “In Harm’s Way,” “Flee from Reality.”

For people who like thrash-y albums, or aggressive traditional metal, this might be an album that sticks a lot more than it did for me. I can definitely see the potential in this album, but it just didn’t click with me. I think it’s worth listening to, to see if it might click for you, but it didn’t have any lasting power for me. Give it a listen! See what it does for you.
