This Is Hardcore has been the go-to festival for hardcore fans in Philadelphia for seven years now. This year’s addition, though, is getting a heavy dose of shock rock thanks to GWAR.
It’s been announced today that none other than GWAR will be one of the co-headliners to this summer’s This Is Hardcore festival. Also confirmed for the bill is Kid Dynamite, Modern Life Is War, Trapped Under Ice (performing their last short before going on hiatus), Panic, Relentless and others (with more to be revealed shortly). “Wait, this is an April Fool’s joke… right?,” you may be asking yourself at this point. Well, the festival insists that this is not a prank and that GWAR is indeed 100% confirmed for the festival. While GWAR can certainly play to a variety of audiences (they have, after all, appeared at Bonnaroo before), seeing them on a hardcore festival’s bill definitely doesn’t seem ordinary.
Tickets for the four day festival, taking place from August 8 to 11 at the Electric Factory in Philly, can be purchased via its official website. A rundown of bands confirmed for This Is Hardcore thus far can be seen below, with more on the way.
