While frontman Steven Tyler isn’t busy on American Idol, he’s working with Aerosmith a new album (their first record of new material since 2001’s Just Push Play). And while a release date is still pending, it looks like Tyler and his bandmates will be spending time together on the road this Summer.

Aerosmith will be embarking on The Global Warming Tour starting on June 16 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, MN. Opening on the trek will be none other than Cheap Trick. “Can’t wait to bring this band back home. It feels like we’ve been away too long,” guitarist Joe Perry said about the tour. Granted, while they toured Latin America and Asia this past Fall, the last time Aerosmith toured North America was in the Summer of 2010. And though this certainly isn’t the first time they’ve toured with Cheap Trick, the two classic rock groups do make a solid pairing on the road.

More dates are expected to be announced shortly. For now, you can take a look at the first leg of Aerosmith’s Global Warming Tour can be seen after the jump. Tickets go on sale on March 30 and 31, while fans can “RSVP” for a presale starting on March 29 via LiveNation.
