Steve Albini, a legendary producer and musician, has passed away at the age of 61. His passion for music was evident in the countless albums he recorded and the alternative rock sound he shaped with artists like Nirvana, Pixies, PJ Harvey, and many more. As the founder of Electrical Audio in Chicago, IL, he was a staunch advocate for fair treatment of artists in the music industry. While an official statement regarding his passing hasn’t been revealed, the New York Times reports the cause of death was a heart attack, according to Taylor Hales of Electrical Audio.
Ugh man, a heartbreaking loss of a legend. Love to his family and innumerable colleagues.

The music world lost an incredible talent: Record producer/ musician Steve Albini. When Nirvana was searching for a producer for their “In Utero” album, they courted him. He responded giving them a list of conditions, including wanting to be “paid like a plumber.” #RIPSteveAlbini pic.twitter.com/iNU3Go1rEN
