As the year comes to a close, Oceans of Slumber have unveiled details about what 2024 has in store. After spending significant time in Bogotá, Colombia, and signing with Season of Mist in 2023, the progressive metal band is gearing up for their upcoming sixth album. Consider this a parting gift for 2023, the group has shared a video of a piano medley, “Poem of Fire,” performed by the band’s multi-instrumentalist, Dobber Beverly, who knows no bounds with his diverse musical setting from Oceans of Slumber to being the drummer for Insect Warfare and Necrofier. While this may be a softer introduction for what 2024 awaits, Oceans of Slumber will have some heavier tunes. Just wait. While full details have yet to be disclosed, what we do know is, Oceans of Slumber will team up with Lacuna Coil and New Years Day for a spring 2024 tour.
Beverly comments:
“Our universal love for film composers like Zimmer and Richter has cemented a place where cinematic music can flourish in the realm of progressive metal. And that’s a place where we’ve been existing for years. I’ve been studying newer composers like Arvo Pärt and Ludivico Einaudi trying to see what fuses modernism with later era romantic music (my favorite!) and figuring out how I can inject more of it into our work. I’ve been tasked with making more piano music by Season of Mist President Michael Berberian as a dare and I’ve taken various themes from our new record and made an overarching thematic piano piece that I hope you’ll enjoy.”
On touring with Lacuna Coil, vocalist Cammie Beverly states:
“Touring with Lacuna Coil is like a dream for us in Oceans of Slumber. Sharing the stage with such legendary women in metal is an incredible honor, and we’re excited for the amazing experiences and memorable shows ahead. We can’t wait to see you all there!”
