Metal Inside(r) Home Quarantine is Metal Insider’s new column during this time of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We asked artists five questions on what’s been keeping them busy ranging from their favorite movies, food they’ve been eating, music they’ve been listening to and more. We caught up with Bone Tower as they’ve been spending this time working on personal habits.
What have you been doing to pass time during Quarantine?
Sean: Writing more music, working on personal habits like exercise and eating, as well as reading more books.
Michael: I’ve been working on producing more records and growing my portfolio for my business.
Jonas: During the lockdowns I spent most of the time working out, cooking food, playing a lot of guitar, writing music, and working on the Pale Ache record.
Have you been listening to any music or have any playlists worth checking out?
Sean: Personally, I really became really obsessed with Power Trip last year and if you haven’t listened to them yet then you are 100% missing out.
Michael: Go listen to the Pure Noise’s “Hardcore Punk” Spotify playlist. I discovered many bands through it including Drain, Gulch, Mindforce, Spy, Regional Justice Center and more.
A lot of people have been spending this time cooking, including making their own bread. What food have you been prepping during this time?
Sean: Lots of pasta and chicken dishes. One thing I particularly perfected was my roast beef sandwich which I made with a toasted ciabatta bun, a few roast beef shavings, lite mayo, steak sauce, shredded marble, and 2 onion rings.
Michael: Ive got this Asian pork tenderloin recipe that I have gotten down for a fucking science.
Jonas: I have made a lot of pasta and rice dishes with chicken and beef, as well as a lot of yogurt dishes, a lot of fruit and veggies, cream of rice, and lots of potatoes. I’ve got a really good pulled chicken recipe as well that I love.
In terms of entertainment, what movies, TV shows, books, or games have been keeping you busy?
Sean: I’ve been rewatching a couple of my favorites including Mad Men, Futurama, The Simpsons, and some Netflix documentaries including Cocaine Cowboys.
Jonas: I’ve recently rewatched Seinfeld and The Office, as well as a lot of sales training videos and bodybuilding news.
Michael: I have taken a lot of this time to watch movies that I feel I have missed out on including Saint Maud, The Nightingale, Lake Mungo, as well as shows like Midnight Mass and Haunting Of Hill House.
What advice do you have for your fans in isolation during this time?
Sean: Stay as busy as possible and try your best to use whatever creative outlets you have to channel your negative energy into something positive. Also I found that exercising as much as possible helped me a lot.
Jonas: Find something that you care about and put as much time and energy into it as you can.
Michael: Learning to appreciate time with yourself and learning how to be by yourself and have that be fine. Like Jonas mentioned, finding something that you can work towards independently.
