It didn’t take long at all to hear Yngwie Malmsteen’s influence on last night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. From the very intro, you could hear the fretboard shredding. Laying back in the pocket with the legendary Roots crew? Not Yngwie! Go about 5 minutes in to hear Yngwie unleash the fucking fury for the first time, then going into and coming out of commercials for the rest of the show. Is Fallon becoming the king of late night metal bookings? Mastodon? Check. Slayer? Check? Shadows Fall? Check. Joe Satriani and Yngwie sitting in with the best house band possibly ever? Hmm…
