While Decapitated are currently in jail for charges of kidnapping a woman in Spokane, their story appears to have allegedly taken a darker turn. Court documents obtained by the Spokesman-Review state that the woman who was kidnapped stated that the whole band gang-raped her in the bathroom of their tour bus following the show at The Pin.
The documents state that the woman and another female friend were invited on to Decapitated’s tour bus to have drinks following the band’s show. The woman’s breasts were allegedly grabbed by drummer Michal Lysejko, and she said she was uncomfortable. She signaled to her friend that they needed to leave, then went to go to the bathroom and was followed by singer Rafal Piotrowski, who began kissing her. After she said she needed to leave with her friend, she was told “you have to have fun. She has left you.” The article continues:
The woman “attempted to push Piotrowski away but he grabbed her arm and spun her around to where she was facing the sink and mirror in the bathroom,” court documents say. “She saw in the mirror and out of the corner of her eye each of the band members taking turns raping her.”
The friend, meanwhile, said she watched the band members rape the other woman, and Piotrowski asked her to perform oral sex on him. When the friend refused, court documents say, “she was pushed to the ground and received bruises to her knees and shins.”
The friend left and the bus and the area and was pulled over at 12:43 on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was allowed to call her friend from the back seat of the patrol car, and her friend reported the rape. A state trooper said that he couldn’t help without a specific location of the tour bus and continued with the DUI arrest. Eventually, the woman on the tour bus was helped off the bus by the band’s Waclaw Kieltyka and another man and was found by officers about two miles away from the venue. She was taken to a hospital for a sexual assault exam, and detectives noticed she had “significant bruising on her upper arms consistent with being restrained.
The band were interviewed by detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office. The drummer denied knowing who the girls were. Guitarust Waclaw Kieltyka said he saw Piotroski and Hubert Wiecek engaged in sex acts with a woman in the bathroom and agreed to a DNA swab collected as evidence. Piotrowski admitted that the women were were present for a party on the bus then requested an attorney, according to court documents. Wiecek also admitted the women were on the bus, but said he sat on the couch and didn’t see anything. He then requested a translator, said no one was forced to get on the bus, and then said he didn’t recall what happened. Both Piotrowski and Wiecek declined to give a DNA sample.
Of course this is only one side of the story, but it looks pretty damning on Decapitated’s part. The women could have willingly gotten on the bus, and if they wanted to have consensual sex with the band, then that’s fine too. It could be argued that the only reason the rape was reported in the first place was because her friend left the bus and was pulled over for drunk driving. And who would leave their friend that might have been in danger on a bus? At the end of the day, no means no, and if the woman was uncomfortable, the band should have respected that immediately, and we’re definitely not victim-shaming
The band’s defense attorney commented on the rape charges stating “Decapitated plan to fully fight the allegations that are brought against them, and we are fully confident that the other side of this story will be heard.” They’re in a rough place regardless of the outcome, as their reputation is blemished even if they’re cleared of wrongdoing, not to mention the fact that they’re missing tour dates. And if they are guilty, then nothing they do moving forward will help them.
