Miss May I headlined the Shadows Inside tour, accompanied by Upon a Burning Body, Kublai Khan, and Currents. Metal Insider contributing photographer Annamarie Nyirady attended the Saturday, June 17th show at the Baltimore Soundstage, and documented the 4 headlining bands.
Unfortunately I missed the opening bands (In Dying Arms and Arc of the Sun), but made it in time for Currents’ set. Although I wasn’t familiar with their music, I was impressed by how tight their set was. With a refreshing take on djent/metalcore, their songs were both catchy and memorable.
CURRENTS
Next up was Kublai Khan, and they did not disappoint. I had previously seen them play in a small, skatepark venue, and they managed to bring the same energy to the big stage. They played favorites like “The Guilty Dog” and “Life for a Life,” while making sure the audience knew what they stood for.
KUBLAI KHAN
As fog filled the room, Upon a Burning Body ran onto the stage. These Texans don’t let anyone forget that they hail from the Lone Star State. They brought high energy, breakdowns, and the usual stage antics. Although they are currently touring with the album Straight From the Barrio, they also played older tracks like “Sin City” and “Texas Blood Money.”
UPON A BURNING BODY
Miss May I took the stage with the most extravagant production of the night. Considering the tour is in support of their new album, Shadows Inside, their set naturally featured many tracks from their album. They played a killer set featuring both old and new songs like “Hey Mister” and “Deathless.”
MISS MAY I
At the end of the night, I walked away from a great show where each band delivered. Be sure to check out the remainder dates on the Shadows Inside tour!
