Yesterday, the first trailer for Thor:Ragarok was released.  Lets  examine a couple major metal key points in this forthcoming action packed flick.

The legends of Asgard, Thor, and other viking tales have long been inspiration for endless rock & roll and heavy metal songs, albums and album covers. However this trailer is soundtracked by Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.” The track is very fitting being that it was inspired by Viking battles. Yet, this is slightly surprising considering that Led Zeppelin is notorious for turning down their musical properties for such pop culture use. Hell, Jack Black had to beg to use the same song for School of Rock!  But Disney owns Marvel, and pretty much every other entertainment property. So I am sure they just mailed Zeppelin a blank check with a note attached saying “Name Your Price! -Walt”

When bands take a break or go on hiatus, it’s common for members to try out some side projects or jam with some other bands. So where has Thor been since we have last seen him with the Avengers in Age of Ultron? The team was on hiatus at the end of the film after all. Well Thor has reappeared and it seems has joined Turisas! Battle Metal! Hulk Smash! But Thor cut off his hair?!?!? He must be going thru his Load phase. It should also be noted that Thor: Ragnarok sounds a lot like Gwar, Ragnarok, the band’s fifth album from 1995. Lawsuit, perhaps?

Thor: Ragnarok will be released on November 3rd, and you’re already psyched.
