As anyone that’s ever picked up a guitar knows, Chuck Berry passed away this past Sunday (18) at the age of 90. What many probably didn’t know is that the rock and roll pioneer had a new album coming in the works. Chuck, his first album of original material in 38 years, will be coming out on June 17th. “Big Boys,” a track from that album, was released earlier today in the wake of his death. Tom Morello of Prophets of Rage and Rage Against the Machine guests on the track, along with Nathaniel Rateliff of Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats. Along with those two, Berry’s children, Charles Berry Junionr and Ingrid Berry, appear on the album. Morello underplays on this track, as there’s little of his normal tremolo fretboard pyrotechnics. In fact, if you weren’t told that he was on the track, you might not know. That being said, it must have been the thrill of a lifetime to appear on a Chuck Berry album for both Morello and Rateliff.

Chuck will be out on June 17th on Dulatone, and can be preordered here.
