There have been a few health scares for both Yob’s Mike Scheidt and Grim Reaper’s Steve Grimmett, yet they both remain in high spirits. Scheidt has been recovering at home since his discharge from the hospital on January 30.

He announced the following on his facebook:

I am being discharged from the hospital today. This has been one of the hardest weeks of my life, if not the hardest. I came very close, too close, to a point of no return where I would have died. I experienced the worst pain I’ve ever felt, lost my ability to take care of myself, with my family standing by me in complete support, and just as powerless. All we could do is follow the lead of the truly amazing doctors, nurses, and CNA’s who took care of me. I am immensely grateful, and humbled like I have never known.

This is the kind of experience where there is a before this happened, and an after. My love for my family and friends has deepened, as has my desire and passion to keep living, to continue to grow and learn, and to riff the fuck out.

I have a long way to go before I’ll be back in full-on rock mode. I will slowly and steadily build myself up again. I’m certain I’ll be assimilating these lessons for a good while to come. It’s amazing to me all that can transpire in 8 days time.

Thank you again and again and again for your support and positivity. It is extremely powerful. Be good to each other, and take excellent care of yourselves and the ones you hold dear.

With Love,

Mike”

He’s received visits from his family and bandmates, while creating daily playlists for himself. Yob announced a benefit show for Scheidt at Revolution Hall in Portland, Oregon on Thursday, March 16 with Red Fang headlining along with Danava and Norska. Tickets for this event are currently on sale and you can grab yours here.

Due to Scheidt’s condition, Yob rescheduled their New York and Texas show dates that were supposed to take place later this month. The band remains in great spirits on Scheidt’s recovery process and stated the following:

“NY & Austin friends:

With great regret, we have to reschedule our shows this month. They will now take place on June 23rd to 26th.

We were so looking forward to playing for you and sharing the stage with many good friends!

Mike will do everything in his power to heal up so that we can come back in June stronger than ever!! All tickets will be honored and, if you’re unable to attend in June, you’ll be offered a refund. We will make it up to you!! Thank you for your understanding and support!!

With love,

Mike, Travis, and Aaron / YOB.”

Meanwhile, Steve Grimmett remains hospitalized in Ecuador. According to his wife Millie, he will be released this Friday (10). She stated the following on the band’s facebook page:

“Change of plan, Steve is going to stay in the hospital until friday, to help get the pain better under control. But steve has been out :)”
