Towards the end of 2016, Curbed San Francisco discovered a brand new listing on the market that happened to be Kirk Hammett’s home. Hammett lived on 320 Sea Cliff, for roughly six years, initially buying the home for $8 million in 2010. At that time, the price was doubled from the previous buy, back in 2003 for $3.1 million. Not exactly sure why this house continues to sell every six years, however, the price is currently up at $16 million.

I am not a real estate agent, nor bank broker, but I did try to do a bit of math. With this extensive inflation, imagine buying this house at a low 10% down payment of $1.6 Million. Therefore, your monthly mortgage installments could be as low as 3%, paying at least $43,200 each month for the rest of your life (and more) plus taxes and additional fees. That is all you need to afford a place that the legendary Kirk Hammett called home for six years.

According to Curbed, the Sea Cliff location, including a pristine overlook of the Pacific Ocean, is one of the wealthiest areas in the city. Hammett’s house ranks at #4 of the most expensive houses on the market. Ranking at #3 is Hammett’s neighbor on 224 Sea Cliff, for an asking price of $19 million and more.

For those like me who can never afford a home like this, all we can do is look at the photos in awe.
