It has been just over 14 years since former Alice in Chains frontman Layne Staley sadly passed away from a drug overdose. Fortunately, Alternative Nation picked up on a not-so-subtle tweet directed from a Seattle-area audio engineer Jesse Holt to Staley’s former Mad Season bandmate (and Pearl Jam guitarist) Mike McCready suggesting that he recorded some songs with the late singer, asking him to help get them out there:
Hey @MikeMcCreadyPJ help me produce 8 unreleased tracks w/ #LayneStaley singing on them. You’d love several of them. #HoltBrothers #Seattle

I’m skeptical if these will be leftover Alice in Chains tunes as they’ve since moved on with William DuVall, but we can still hope, right? It’s not clear when this material was recorded or if it was for any specific project, but the possibility of hearing new tracks with Staley’s legendary pipes is exciting.
