slipknotThe old saying goes that a picture’s worth a thousand words. But what if it’s two pictures? Judging from the past day or so on the internet, Slipknot are back in the studio and CKY might be getting the band back together.  Damn that was only 42 words. Ok then, we’ll go into some more details. On Tuesday, Slipknot’s Jim Root took to Instagram to say that he’s back in the studio working on new Slipknot jams. How did we know that he wasn’t making a third House of Gold & Bones album for Stone Sour or testing out a guitar for NAMM later this month? Well, he hashtagged “Slipknot2014.” Rejoice, maggots, or at least those that aren’t Joey Jordison fans.

Meanwhile on Twitter, CKY’ guitarist Chad Ginsburg posted a photo of himself along with the band’s former frontman Deron Miller with the caption “CKY 2014.” Miller had been out of the band since 2012, allegedly due to alcohol abuse. Ginsburg had been in Fuckface Unstoppable with former CKY drummer Jess Margera and his brother Bam, but he’d left.

It’s a bit of a surprise to see that CKY is back together, especially since the band seemed to part on pretty acrimonious terms. Not to mention that it’s not like America was clamoring for a reunion of the band. But it’s definitely more of a surprise than Slipknot, especially since Root already took time off from touring with Stone Sour so he could concentrate on the fifth Slipknot album. It’ll be more surprising when we find out who’s going to be playing drums along to those riffs he’s in the studio creating.
