There are lots of Metallica covers out there. Hell, Apocalyptica got their start by releasing a whole album of cello covers of the band’s music, and everyone from Between the Buried and Me to Rodrigo y Gabriela have put their stamp on them as well. This one’s a little bizarre though. Alt-rock band The Moth & The Flame have covered a Metallica song, and you have one guess as to which one.
Yep, The Moth & The Flame did their very own version of Hardwired.. To Self Destruct‘s “Moth Into Flame.” If you know the song well enough to know the lyrics, that will be the only giveaway that this is a cover of the song. Mostly acoustic, with some strings and backup vocals interjected in, it’s a stripped-down take of the song that has nothing in common with the original other than the lyrics. If you’re a fan of the alt-rock band, you’ll probably enjoy this song as just a random new song even if you have no knowledge of Metallica. If you’re a Metallica fan, you most likely won’t like this much.
