Well, it looks like the honeymoon is over again for Van Halen. Little more than a month after they postponed more than 30 dates of their tour, those shows have been officially cancelled, according to Pollstar. The band’s last show was on June 26 in New Orleans. When the band originally postponed the shows, both Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth said that they’d “bitten off more than they can chew,” when scheduling the dates.
On the band’s list of dates at ticketmaster.com, shows including Uncasville CT, Baltimore MD, Rochester NY, Detroit MI, Toledo OH, Memphis TN, Sacramento CA, Reno NV, and Milwaukee WI are listed as cancelled. There are some dates that aren’t listed as cancelled yet. While there’s no official statement from Van Halen beyond their initial announcement, tension between Roth and the rest of the band was what initially caused them to replace him with Gary Cherone following their brief reunion with him in 1996. Still, that’s a lot of money they’re walking away from.
