System of a Down’s Serj Tankain teamed up with Dethklok’s Brendon Small and Gene Hoglan to cover Blue Öyster Cult’s “Godzilla.” The song will be featured on Godzilla: King Of The Monsters soundtrack which drops May 24th. Serj posted his excitement on Instagram:

“Surprise!!

So my friend composer Bear McCreary calls last year and says “I have a crazy idea-would you sing on the cover of Blue Öyster Cult’s Godzilla for the film “Godzilla-King of the Monsters?”

Fuck yeah!!!!!! The track features a full orchestra, Japanese Taiko drums, a male chanting choir and the thrashing rock sounds of Dethklok (Brendon Small, Gene Hoglan, and Bryan Beller) from Metalocalypse…”

Small also talked about working on one of his favorite tunes.

I got to play guitar in the new GODZILLA KING OF THE MONSTERS movie. Not only that I got to do it w @galaktikon / #dethklok’s own @therealgenehoglan @bryanbellerbass the mighty @serjtankian on vocals w @mckianmusic all brought together with the orchestral power of @bearmccreary ( #doomstarrequiem) who scores the film.
Hope you enjoy our bizarro take on one of my all time favorite tunes. #Godzilla
