Metallica raise over $100,000 for charity through #MetallicaMondays series

Since March, Metallica has been entertaining fans with their #MetallicaMondays series of concerts while raising money for those in need through their All Within My Hands charity. This past Monday marked the finale of the series and now we know just how successful the fundraising portion was.

According to a statement released by the band on Wednesday (26), #MetallicaMondays raised approximately $118,000 from fans for All Within My Hands.

Summing up the series and thanking fans for their donations, the statement (as reported by The Prp) reads:

“When Metallica started the weekly #MetallicaMondays concert streaming series, they set out to provide something to maybe help fans get through quarantine; a bit of entertainment, a weekly event to bond over with friends and family, a minor distraction to go with dinner on Mondays.

The idea was to try to help out our friends worldwide in their own rock-n-roll way. But when it comes to helping, All Within My Hands is all about giving back to those who need it most. This Foundation is close to our hearts for many reasons, but what really continues to inspire all of us, is how YOU have kept it close to your hearts.

Throughout these #MetallicaMondays, the band paired the concerts with fundraisers. It seemed like a way we could bond together to support so many hurting from the effects of the pandemic with the plan to make modest donations to Feeding America and Direct Relief. What we didn’t know then was that the need for a major response was ahead of us, or that AWMH would eventually contribute $645k to COVID relief efforts!”

Over the course of 23 weeks, you have totally blown us away. YOU RAISED OVER $100,000 FOR AWMH! At the core of All Within My Hands is the same value at the core of Metallica: we are stronger together. When the Metallica Family activates for a cause, you help us make a sustainable impact in a way that four people simply can’t make on their own.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you and HELL YEAH for your involvement in our desire to make the world a better place.”

Named after the St. Anger track, the All Within My Hands Foundation was started in 2017 as a way for Metallica to give back, helping to “creat[e] sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.” Through partner organizations like Feed America, the band has been instrumental in helping fight hunger during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the AWMH website, they have helped “supply an incremental 324M pounds (260 meals)” since #MetallicaMondays began in March.

All #MetallicaMondays concerts are still available to view via the band’s YouTube page. The fundraiser is still going on as well, with a button in the right-hand corner of the video page directing viewers to donate to All Within My Hands set to last for a few more days.

If you can’t get enough live Metallica, the band’s “Drive-In Nights” concert is set to hit drive-in theaters around the country this Saturday, August 29. Tickets are $115 per car with six people allowed in each car.

Metallica will also be releasing their live album, S&M2, this Friday, August 28. The recording captures the band’s September 2019 S&M 20th anniversary concerts with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra with sound remastered from the October 2019 concert film. Fans can pre-order the album in various formats and bundles now.
