What would a supergroup featuring members of Anthrax, Cradle Of Filth, and White Zombie sound like? We’ll find out soon enough in the form of Temple Of The Black Moon, a new group featuring Dani Filth (Cradle Of Filth), Rob Caggiano (Anthrax/The Damned Things), King (ex-Gorgoroth/Ov Hell) and John Tempesta (The Cult/White Zombie).

So of course when we about such extreme metal supergroup, the first thing we want to know is…the meaning behind the band’s name. So…without further ado, here’s Dani Filth’s explanation behind the name Temple Of The Black Moon:

“We had an innumerable amount of names that never seemed likely to stick, that was until we put our proverbial heads together and narrowed it down to just three or four, and then tossed for it (proverbially of course) using a silver Norwegian crown (we couldn’t find any proper money). The name Temple Of The Black Moon represents the rigorous worship of desire, (the black moon astrologically has always held association with the dark Goddess Lilith) and of course the ramifications of the lunar eclipse, always a herald for death and ill-omen.”

While we haven’t heard any of the new band’s music, Temple Of The Black Moon have been apparently in Bergen, Norway recording an album’s worth of demos. Song titles reportedly include “Infernal Desire Machine”, “Don’t Call Up What You Can’t Put Down”, “Dark Eyes For Trouble”, “Beautifully Perverse” and “C.N.T (All That’s Missing Is You)”. The band has already set up a Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and YouTube account, so we’re sure that we’ll be getting our first listen of the band soon.
