DaveEllefson-FrankieBelloBassists of The Big 4 have joined forces for a unique project. Anthrax’s Frank Bello and Megadeth’s David Ellefson announced that they’ve teamed up to record an EP under the name Altitudes & Attitude. The EP came as a result of the two writing together while traveling for the Metal Masters clinics. The resulting material features Bello on vocals, while he and Ellefson share guitar and bass credits. Jeff Friedl of A Perfect Circle plays drums on the EP and guitarist Gus G. makes a special appearance on the final track.Ellefson gave the following insight behind the project:

“What started out as simple bass ideas quickly developed into some really great songs together. Our fans would probably never suspect that a couple of metal bass players would have songs like these inside of us. It’s exciting to write melody with diversity while still pushing the limits of lead-bass playing. Frank’s singing, and both of us playing guitars and other instruments, gave us a whole new dimension for creative opportunities.”

Although the new stuff was put up on Soundcloud earlier today, it appears that the music has since been taken down. Metal Sucks was able to take a listen to it before things went awry and they reported that Altitudes & Attitude is more hard rock than the metal you might expect from two of the Big 4 bassists. You can decide for yourself when the EP is released on  January 14.
