Soundgarden’s last album before their 14 year hiatus, Down on the Upside, wasn’t their best work. It wasn’t bad, but after the hat trick of Louder Than Love, Badmotorfinger and Superunknown, it was a bit of a letdown. One of the main issues was that it wasn’t all that heavy of an album. With their rarities compilation, Echo of Miles: Scattered Tracks Across the Path, coming out on November 25th, the band have released another track from the comp via Stereogum. Originally recorded for Down on the Upside, it’s apparently drummer Matt Cameron’s favorite song, and it’s a slow, crushing rocker that would fit in right alongside the material on Badmotorfinger.
