The Straits Time is reporting that fans in Bangkok, Thailand rioted outside the city’s Thunderdome Arena last night (February 15), after the Deftones canceled their scheduled performance at the last minute. While thousands of fans went home disappointed, a few hundred stayed to express their anger, reportedly throwing bottles and glasses, damaged furnishings and smashed glasses outside the venue. Fan-filmed footage of the riots can be seen above and below.

The band released the following statement on their website and Facebook page, citing power issues behind the last minute cancelations:

“Due to local power issues that threatened the safety of the band and their fans, Deftones were forced to cancel their show last night at the Thunderdome in Bangkok, Thailand. Deftones would like to apologize to those that were inconvenienced and hope to return to Thailand in the near future. Refund info to follow soon.”

It certainly sucks that the band had to cancel at the last minute like that, but it isn’t like they were trying to pull an Axl Rose. Unfortunately, nothing can be done under such circumstances. Thankfully, though, no injuries have been reported.
