Cult of Luna working on ideas for follow-up collaboration

Posted by on December 11, 2017

Cult of Luna guitarist Johannes Persson spoke with Rolling Stone about working on a follow-up to their 2016 collaboration with Julie Christmas, Mariner. The guitarist spoke about working on ideas for the record but never mentioned if Christmas will be contributing to this record. AS RS says:

Persson, meanwhile, reports that Cult of Luna are beginning to work on ideas for the follow-up to Mariner, and they already have a firm album concept in mind. “The last few records have been this kind of continuous journey from the forest to the sky,” he says. “And I know where we’re going after this.”

And just where, exactly, might that be?

“That remains to be revealed,” Persson says cryptically. “But we’re writing now. So you’ll find out … hopefully.”

That’s great to hear, because when we spoke with the band at their Mariner show in New York over the Summer, it seemed like the band was on the verge of taking another hiatus, with no set plans to reconvene.
