7,000 AC/DC fans in Belgium requested refund for Axl Rose fronted concerts

angus young with guns n rosesSome of the biggest stories of the year so far are Guns N’ Roses’ sort-of classic reunion and AC/DC tapping singer Axl Rose to fill vocal duties for them after Brian Johnson was forced to step down due to his hearing deterioration. The latter was a more pragmatic subject for everyone, with fans vocalizing their opinions about the Johnson situation and their doubts about Rose involvement as a replacement. After Rose’s performance at Coachella with AC/DC’s Angus Young playing, many got on board with the idea, except a couple of thousand Belgians who claimed their ticket refunds.

After the official announcement of Rose fronting the legendary Australian band to complete their “Rock or Bust” world tour, the band also stated that those who wished to get a ticket refund for not getting the show they paid for could do so, and it seems like Belgium was the first to jump on that offer. According to De Standaard, approximately 7,000 AC/DC fans who bought tickets to see the band perform on May 16 at Werchter Festivalpark in Werchter, Belgium have requested to get their money back because they don’t want to watch AC/DC with Axl Rose. After the refunds were issued, 1,000 tickets were released to those who were on a waiting list to get tickets for the show and approximately 6,000 more released to the general public for sale. Given that the capacity of the venue is 80,000, that’s almost 10% of the capacity that didn’t have an appetite for Axl.

Ticket refunds were offered throughout several dates of the European tour which will start on May 7th in Lisbon, Portugal and runs through June 12th in Aarhus, Denmark, so if you want to get your money back, do it quick as Live Nation and other production companies in charge of the scheduled shows, have different deadlines to claim the refunds for each of the shows. No word if the same would apply for the North American leg of the tour so hold tight to those tickets, or sell em on eBay.
