While Motley Crue announced their Las Vegas residency after dropping hints all last week, Nikki Sixx’s other band Sixx: A.M. was teasing fans of some “surprises” of their own. The band’s last video teaser, though, made it pretty obvious that they were going to release some sort of compilation featuring stripped down versions of their songs. However, Sixx: A.M. have not only confirmed this, but are even giving fans the chance to listen to the “surprise” in its entirety online.

In addition to revealing that they’ll be releasing an EP called 7 next Tuesday (December 13), Sixx: A.M. is also streaming their stripped down renditions over at AOL Music. Singer James Michael told Noisecreep the following about the EP, which features the band re-recording acoustic versions of seven songs:

“The idea of this record works really well with Sixx: A.M. since our fans have really connected with the meanings of our songs. Whether it’s the heavier stuff, or one of our piano ballads, they’ve always attached themselves to the words of these songs. I really love that about our fans.

So what we did with 7 is present a bunch of our songs in different arrangements to give listeners a chance to maybe see them in a new light. It’s us reinterpreting our own songs. What we didn’t want to do is just take the songs and simply strip them down to an acoustic thing.”

While this may not have come as an enormous shocker given that all the clues pointed to an acoustic album, it would appear that Sixx: A.M. have more in store for fans. In addition to giving fans a heads up on the band’s plans, Michael also posted the following on Sixx: A.M.’s Facebook page:

“BTW…7 isn’t the only Sixx: AM surprise coming your way! Oh shit…just when you thought you had it all figured out!!!”

What other surprises Sixx: A.M have planned is anyone’s guess. For now, though, fans can listen to the band’s acoustic EP 7 in its entirety at AOL Music (at least until it’s official release on December 13 via Eleven Seven Music).
